Kris Smith: 'Work pushed Dannii Minogue away'

Kris Smith has admitted that busy work schedules have pushed him and Dannii Minogue apart.

The couple were rumoured to have split last month and subsequent reports suggested that Minogue had made Smith feel like a member of her staff.

However, the couple were quick to deny reports of a split, releasing a statement insisting they are "committed" to the relationship.

"It's not necessarily easy," Smith told the News of the World. "With us both working ridiculous hours, often in different parts of the world, you find yourself at home alone with the child.

"And it's not the perfect world you'd like it to be, with both parents helping out. It's for no other reason than work. But it can push you apart."

A friend added: "They're putting on a brave face because they really want to work through their troubles. But their issues are not yet fully resolved."

Minogue recently quit The X Factor after four series.
