In an essay penned for the Huffington Post, the My Big Fat Greek Wedding star apologised for Morgan's recent anti-gay remarks, lamenting the fact that such hatred still exists.
"I would like to apologise to our entire gay and lesbian community that this hate still exists," Vardalos wrote. "I'm sorry someone can stand on a stage, spew violent, hateful words and images, then issue an apology, be described as not-really-like-that by his employers and co-workers, and go back to work."
The 48-year-old concluded her essay by saying that she is confident that acceptance of the gay and lesbian community is achievable in the near future.
"I am hopeful, I am optimistic... But, it's time for this hate to end," Vardalos wrote.
The 30 Rock star apologised for his harsh words, stating that he meant no offence to gays and lesbians.
Morgan's 30 Rock co-star Tina Fey labelled the comments as "disturbing", claiming that she hopes that Morgan's apology will be accepted.
