Jon Cryer: 'Alec Baldwin would be awesome mayor'

Jon Cryer has endorsed 30 Rock star Alec Baldwin's possible bid to become mayor of New York City.

Baldwin is reportedly considering a mayoral campaign now that previous candidate Rep. Anthony Weiner will likely not run for the office, due to the fallout from posting sexually explicit images of himself on Twitter.

Cryer has now backed Baldwin's possible foray into politics, telling Entertainment Tonight that he believes the 30 Rock actor would do a fine job as New York City's leader.

"New York could do a lot worse than Alec Baldwin," he quipped. "He's awesome."

The Two and a Half Men actor continued: "[He's] super smart. It'll be a funny few years [if Baldwin is elected], that's for sure. It certainly won't be boring."

Jennifer Garner recently revealed that both she and husband Ben Affleck think Baldwin should challenge for New York City's highest office.

Baldwin himself admitted last week that he takes no joy in Rep. Weiner's scandal, adding that he feels sorry not only for the disgraced congressman, but also for the politician's family, electoral district and legislative colleagues.
