Katie Price has announced plans to beat the Guinness World Record for the largest book signing by a single author.

The glamour model will sign copies of her latest novel The Comeback Girl at O2 Academy Leeds from 11am on Wednesday, July 27. She hopes to beat former world chess champion Anatoli Karpov, who signed 1,951 copies of his book in eight hours in 2006.

Price said: "You know me, I've always had a competitive streak so when it was suggested that I try to break a Guinness World Record for a book signing, I thought, 'Bring it on!'.

"I love meeting my fans and I can't wait to make them part of this world record. I really hope they will come out to support me in Leeds on July 27 and as a thank you I'm going to dedicate my next book to them and print all their names in the front."

The Comeback Girl is released on July 21. Her as-yet-untitled follow-up will be released on October 27.

Charlotte Bush from publisher Random House added: "Since we first published Katie in 2006 we have been delighted by the huge crowds of fans who have turned out for her book signings.

"The Guinness World Records attempt will be Katie's 113th signing with Random House and we are determined to make it her biggest yet - so big she's going to break the world record!"

Price's last novel was Paradise, the latest book in her Angel series about a fictional glamour model and mother.

Her previous book was her fourth memoir You Only Live Once. Price's previous literary works have been ghostwritten by Rebecca Farnworth.
