The two men charged with conspiracy to commit robbery and grievous bodily harm on singer Joss Stone have been remanded in custody.

Junior Bradshaw, 30, and Kevin Liverpool, 33, from St Stephen's Close, Manchester were charged with the alleged offences by police yesterday.

The pair were first arrested on Monday near Stone's Cullompton home, initially on suspicion of possessing an offensive weapon and planning a burglary.

Both men spoke only to confirm their identities at a hearing at Exeter magistrates court this morning, PA reports.

The court was informed that items including a samurai sword were found in a Fiat Punto after the pair were arrested on the St Andrews Estate. The magistrates ruled that the charges were too serious to allow the men to be released on bail.

The charged pair reportedly made no comment as they were remanded to appear at Exeter Crown Court on July 1.
