Kara DioGuardi joins Broadway's 'Chicago'

Kara DioGuardi has been confirmed to join the cast of the Broadway revival of Chicago later this year.

The Platinum Hit star will take on the role of murderess Roxie Hart for a limited eight-week engagement beginning in September, reports Playbill.

DioGuardi's run at New York's Ambassador Theatre will last until October 30.

The former American Idol judge released her memoir A Helluva Good Time earlier this year.

DioGuardi has said that she is more herself on Platinum Hit as she is allowed to be harsher with the contestants.

She has claimed that American Idol fans did not understand her as they were not given the full picture of her credentials as a judge.
