The 'Baby' singer was a double winner at the Canadian music ceremony on Sunday night, which was hosted by Gomez.
Gomez handed Bieber the trophy for 'International Video of the Year by a Canadian' for 'Somebody to Love' featuring Usher, prompting Bieber to joke: "Selena, nice to meet you, I'm Justin. You're very beautiful, maybe we can go out sometime?"
Bieber, who shared the prize with Drake's 'Find Your Love', also gave a shout-out to Gomez on Twitter after the show, saying: "To that young lady @selenagomez - great job and it was a pleasure meeting u ;)"
Bieber, who was born in Stratford, Ontario, also took home the 'UR FAVE Artist' prize for 'Somebody to Love'. He later told followers on Twitter that it had been a "special night" and he had enjoyed being back in his home country.
"I won at the MMVAs a year ago my first award ever... so I had to come back to support my fellow Canadians. Thank you for the love," he wrote.
"First winning an award with my bigbro @drakkardnoir was incredible. @usherraymondiv we won for #SOMEBODYTOLOVE so Im bringing yours back to u (sic)."
