Lost actor Doug Hutchison, 51, has married 16-year-old country singer Courtney Stodden.
The couple, who are separated in age by 35 years, tied the knot late last month in Las Vegas.
Stodden and Hutchison insist that their union is based solely on love, explaining in a joint statement to E! News that age shouldn't be a barrier for any couple.
The pair said: "We're aware that our vast age difference is extremely controversial. But we're very much in love and want to get the message out there that true love can be ageless."
Hutchison is perhaps best known for his roles as mutant serial killer Eugene Victor Tooms on The X-Files, Lost's leader of the Dharma Initiative, and as a police detective in Lie To Me.
He has also had supporting roles in the films Con Air, The Green Mile and I Am Sam.
Stodden is a former beauty pageant contestant, who has attempted to break into the country music industry with the singles 'Don't Put It On Me' and 'Car Candy'.
