Dawn French: 'I'm open to marrying again'

Dawn French has admitted that she would not rule out marrying again.

The 53-year-old comedienne divorced husband of 26 years Lenny Henry last October. However, speaking to Woman magazine, French stated that she is having some fun while dating again.

"I've got lots of interesting gentleman callers - but I can make the choice," she said. "In fact I'm scrabbling for time on my own. I don't even like to call it dating, like some teenager, I'm just trying to have a bit of fun every now and again. I'm trying to work out who I am in relation to other people.

"It's very strange finding out who you are as a romantic. I don't feel like I am starting again, it's just a new phase. I'm trying to have a bit of fun every now and again. But I am not a predator, I am not going out looking."

On marriage, the Vicar of Dibley star confessed: "I think it's a mistake to say never about anything. I'm open to marrying again, but I'm certainly not thinking about it right now."

Discussing the couple's decision to split, French revealed that she and Henry had had "lots" of "very honest, open discussion".

She said: "Every marriage consists of compromise and so it should, but sometimes you can clip your own wings a little bit.

"We talked a lot, we walked a lot, we stayed up drinking a lot, we took months and months to discuss it as there were lots of reasons not to and lots of reasons that we should," she added. "Once we finally decided, I think we were both relieved."
