The singer posted the photo of himself outside the run-down building looking confused, with the caption, "Uh, this is my hotel in Poland".
Blunt's Facebook page has since had more than 5,000 complaints from Polish fans after his Life Festival concert near Auschwitz.
According to the Daily Mail, Blunt was actually staying at the five-star Niebieski Art Hotel and Spa in Krakow.
Polish fan Daniel Edelstein wrote: "Who the f**k do you think you are?
"There are plenty of people in Africa dying of starvation and you're complaining about a hotel which isn't amazing. You're not even talented."
Michal Polinski added: "How lame are you? Even if this was true, how stupid do you have to be to book something not knowing what you're booking. Come on man, you're a d**khead."
However, Blunt has since defended his photo, by tweeting that the building was actually part of his hotel.
"The picture I took really was part of my hotel," he insisted. "It was in Krakow, which, by the way, is a beautiful city."
Not all fans were upset by Blunt's photo. Chuck Griffiths wrote: "Could be worse. Colditz is now a hotel."
James Blunt recently described Elton John as his "hero".
