The former Smallville actor was arrested in California last year after being caught allegedly taking part in a ring that was trying to sell more than 10,000 pills of painkiller drug oxycodone.
Jones could have been facing up to 20 years in jail for his part in the drug ring. According to TMZ, he pleaded for a lenient sentence, having already lost his role in Spike TV sitcom Blue Mountain State.
The judge for Jones's case is said to have reduced his sentence to 366 days due to his relatively "minor" role in the ring. The actor will have to turn himself over to police once it is decided in which prison he will serve time.
Speaking outside the courthouse, Jones said: "I appreciate what the judge did. He told me that he wants me to take this opportunity to get my career back off the ground.
"He wants me to get back and help others like I have in the past, and that's exactly what I plan on doing."
