The actress, who is currently under house arrest for a parole violation, apparently tested positive for alcohol on one of two tests administered last week, according to TMZ.
Lohan has been ordered to appear in front of Judge Stephanie Sautner at the Los Angeles Superior County Court on Thursday morning at 10am.
The publication adds that prosecutors are expected to ask for the 24-year-old to be removed from house arrest and sent to jail.
Lohan is reported to have tested negative for drugs in both instances.
The Mean Girls star was due to be interviewed at her home by Matt Lauer for the Today show earlier on Wednesday.
However, Lohan's publicist Steve Honig told E! Online that a misunderstanding between themselves and Today over the format and length of the interview led to the cancellation.
Honig said: "We thought this was going to be a quick, brief check-in with the Today show. You know, how's she doing, what she's been up to... Lindsay wasn't prepared to do a lengthy, two-hour in-depth interview.
"Once they started setting up with Matt, I found out about what they wanted to do. So I pulled Lindsay aside and she said, 'What do you think I should do?' I told her I didn't think it was a good idea, and I ultimately told Matt Lauer we weren't doing it, not Lindsay."
Honig added that Lauer was "a perfect gentleman" and that Lohan felt bad about the situation.
The actress has filmed a short commercial for a penny auction website during her period of house arrest.
