The 'Next 2 You' singer, who was in the city to launch his women's fragrance 'Someday', walked the red carpet at AMC Loews Lincoln Square on Thursday night.
Bieber was not photographed with Gomez, instead opting to pose next to a large poster of the actress in the movie, which also stars Katie Cassidy and Leighton Meester.
The teenager's appearance at the premiere came just hours after he was tackled to the ground while launching 'Someday' in front of thousands of screaming fans at Macy's.
Reports claim that the man was later revealed to be a plain clothes police officer who had been concerned about Bieber's safety, but the popstar and his security team had not initially been aware of his identity, prompting a scuffle.
Bieber's spokesperson Matthew Hiltzik later told the New York Post that the incident had been a "momentary well-intentioned misunderstanding" and that Bieber was "completely fine".
The popstar has yet to acknowledge the incident himself, although he did take to his Twitter account after the perfume launch to thank the fans who turned up: "Today went well at macy's.. the fans were AMAZING, thanks to all the fans who came out to support it was a breath of fresh air :) (sic)"
Bieber's promotional visit to New York also saw him appearing on The Late Show with David Letterman on Wednesday night, where he took over the Top Ten list, sharing ten "little-known facts" about himself.
