Selena Gomez plays shoe golf with Jimmy Fallon

Selena Gomez played a game of shoe golf during her appearance on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon.

The singer and actress joined Fallon for the "new game" on Thursday night after he learned about it from former show guest Glenn Close.

Fallon explained that the rules involved players kicking off their sneakers and trying to make them land in a bucket.

Gomez, who swapped her high heels for a pair of flat shoes, then joined Fallon as they played the game around the backstage area, which included obstacles of a water pool and bushes, before reappearing on the stage, where she was named the winner.

Gomez is currently promoting her new movie Monte Carlo, a romantic comedy involving a case of mistaken identity also starring Leighton Meester and Katie Cassidy. The movie was screened at a Teen Vogue-sponsored event attended by Gomez's boyfriend Justin Bieber in New York City last night.

"I'm really proud of Monte Carlo," she told Fallon. "I obviously haven't done a lot of film work so I'm excited to release this because it's kind of the next chapter for me."

She is also promoting her new album When The Sun Goes Down, which has already spawned the singles 'Who Says' and 'Like A Love Song'.

Monte Carlo opens July 1 in the US and August 24 in the UK.
