Kim Cattrall "loved" gaining 20lbs

Kim Cattrall has declared that she had an "amazing" time gaining weight.

The Sex and the City actress ditched 37 years of healthy eating to play a voluptuous porn star in Meet Monica Velour, spending months gorging on fatty foods and sugary treats.

"It was a stretch for me," she joked on The Graham Norton Show. "Literally a stretch as I had to gain 20lbs to play this character… it was fantastic!

"I have been on a diet since 1974 so this was time for me to eat. God I love to eat, chips and crisps and puddings. Oh, it was amazing!"

Cattrall also confessed to feeling liberated by the natural and "ordinary" look she sported for the movie.

"I had no make-up on and my hair was just as I got out of bed," she recalled. "I am known so much for looking just one way - that sort of Barbie doll perfection look that Sex and the City promotes. So it was fantastic for me to get to play a real person."

Cattrall previously described her Monica Velour weight-gain as "hell" to work off.
