Tracy Morgan returned to the stage in New York City last night for the first time since his controversial performance in Nashville over three weeks ago.

Morgan was criticised for making several anti-gay comments during his performance, which included suggesting that if his son ever came out as homosexual he would stab him.

The 30 Rock star began his performance without referencing the incident, and simply told patrons that he was feeling "mellow" before launching into his usual comedic act.

"I know you're waiting for me to address the controversy," he told the audience halfway through, according to Entertainment Weekly. "I ain't saying s**t."

Morgan received a warm reaction throughout the set, and ended with the statement, "Gay, straight, I don't care. As long as you're happy."

Since being accused of homophobia, the comedian has taken steps to reach out to the LGBT community, which included a press conference apology in Nashville earlier this week.
