Dawn French 'scared and excited' by dating

Dawn French has declared that she is finding the single life "exciting and frightening".

The Vicar of Dibley comedienne confessed to being somewhat overwhelmed by the dating game after divorcing her husband of 26 years Lenny Henry in October.

"Who knows what will happen with me? I've been married for such a long time so the last thing I want at the moment is to be in a great big relationship," the 53-year-old said on today's edition of This Morning.

"I'm doing the opposite to what I've done for the last 30 years and just taking life as it comes.
It's good - it's exciting and quite frightening in a way, but good frightening. Every day is a new thing. Quite a lot of new things that haven't happened to me before are happening and I'm relishing it.

"Even the word 'dating' I just find repulsive because suddenly it makes me feel like a teenager and I'm not a teenager. I can't even think about it in those terms but I'm having some fun, that's what I'm doing."

French previously admitted that she is open to marrying for a second time, but is currently happy "trying to have a bit of fun every now and again".
