Max Clifford has said that his former client Kerry Katona will be "fine" after her split from agents CAN Associates.

The publicist told Closer that Katona will not reunite with her ex-husband Mark Croft following the business decision.

Clifford said: "Kerry's naturally sad about leaving her management but she's trying to stay upbeat.

"She's angry that people have been saying she's on drugs again because she's spent the last year clean, and she's having a test to prove that."

Of Katona's plans to move away from Surrey and back to Warringon, he continued: "It makes sense for Kerry to move back up North because it's cheaper to live there and she still owes a lot of people money. She's strong enough not to go back to Mark now. I think she'll be fine."

Clifford added of Katona's future work options: "She'd love a career as a comedy actress - she was brilliant in Showbands five years ago. Now Kerry just needs to prove that she's reliable and hardworking."

A supposed friend of Katona's added to the magazine: "She doesn't want to be 'famous for being famous' anymore and felt CAN were keeping her in that box. She wants to pursue a career as an actress and start a new life."
