Elizabeth Taylor's collection of valuable jewellery, art and other personal belongings will be exhibited across the globe.

The late Cleopatra star's personal items, which have been valued at a possible $150m (£94m), are to be sold at Christie's in December, but they will first be taken on a three-month international tour, the auction house confirmed.

The memorabilia will be displayed in Paris, London, Moscow, Los Angeles and several other cities beginning in September.

The tour will culminate in a special showing at Christie's Rockefeller Centre gallery in New York City from December 3 to 10, with the sale to be held between December 13 and 16.

A portion of the proceeds generated from the exhibitions will benefit the Elizabeth Taylor AIDS Foundation

Taylor's jewellery will then be sold in three sessions on the first two days of the public sale, while her designer gowns will be featured on December 14 and mementos from her film career will go on the auction block on December 16.

Impressionist and modern art that Taylor inherited from her father Francis is to be sold in a separate auction in February 2012.

Oscar-winning filmmaker Martin Scorsese is reportedly in talks to direct a biopic on Taylor's marriage to Richard Burton.
