Jake recently admitted that he was driven to seek professional help after being hospitalised for "alcohol poisoning", vowing at the time that he was "going all the way [with] AA and doing the clean living".
The Starship Troopers actor has now emerged from a 21-day stay in a medical facility and said that he hopes to never again fall into drinking 12 beers a day as he did during the height of his abuse.
Jake also explained that he is looking to his father Gary, a recovering addict, and Charlie Sheen as examples of how to maintain sobriety.
Jake told TMZ: "I figure if my dad could do it, if Charlie [Sheen] could do it... I could do it. Hell yeah, it feels good."
Crazy Eyes, which is expected to be released this year, will see Jake star with Lukas Haas and former Twin Peaks actor Ray Wise.
