Former MC5 bassist Michael Davis is currently in hospital after being involved in a serious motorcycle accident.

The rock star was riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle down an LA freeway on Monday (May 8) when he collided with an exhaust muffler that fell off the vehicle in front.

Davis suffered a fractured spine, broken ribs and several serious abrasions in the accident, but was fortunately wearing a crash helmet.

He had been due to play at the 'Joey Ramone Birthday Bash' on May 12, but is now unlikely to appear.
