Alan Carr has revealed that he is not interested in getting married or having children.

The Chatty Man host said that partner Paul shares his views on raising a family in an interview with The Mirror.

Carr told the paper: "No way am I going to get married. I hate weddings, all of them - straight, gay and bi. They never last, it's the kiss of death.

"You have to get them an expensive present, then you get a strict dress code, go to a castle in Scotland and two months later they say, 'Me and Dave... it's not working out, we are going our separate ways' just as the warranty is running out on the toaster!"

Carr quipped that he does not want children because he struggles "with a red setter", but added: "It must be awful wanting to be a father and you just can't.

"Really, I can't stand kids. Paul is the same, no way. My brother's wife is having a baby so the pressure from my parents is off... When I heard, I was thrilled because I was going to be an uncle, but I was also like, 'Oh good, the Carr name can go on'."

Carr further joked: "I've already brought enough shame on the family without halting the family tree."

He also briefly commented on press claims that he has signed a new multi-million pound chatshow deal with Channel 4, saying: "I think they have pushed the figure up a bit or I have lost some money on the way. I don't know if it's that much. Really, is that how much? Well, it's security."

Carr, who is due to embark on a nationwide tour this autumn, will perform at the Latitude music and arts festival in Suffolk later this month.
