Shock jock arrested for too much shock

A US radio "shock jock" has been arrested after making racist and obscene comments on air.
Police got involved when DJ Star – aka Troi Torain – made a string of highly offensive comments over a few days on his show on New York's Power 105.1 station. The worst of his tirade was to claim he intended to abuse and possibly kill his rival DJ Envy's four-year-old daughter.
Officers lured the host by telling him to bring in his handgun, then charged him with endangering the welfare of a child and aggravated harassment.
"We told him to come in and surrender the gun, but we knew we were going to arrest him," a source told the New York Daily News. "Telling him 'Come in and surrender your gun' just sounds better than 'Come in and get arrested.'"
A defiant Star later commented to the press: "You're looking at the new Lenny Bruce" – referring to the late comedian who was arrested for swearing.
He has since apologised, however, and pointed out that the comments were all meant as jokes. Star "never intended to violate the law," said his lawyer Benjamin Brafman. The remarks were a response to "merciless taunts" from other DJs, he claimed.
