The 36-year-old British-born Sony record executive, who replaced Kyle Sandilands as a judge on reality television show Australian Idol in 2008, was found dead in his Sydney apartment at the beginning of this month.
Springbett's parents and five sisters flew into Australia at the weekend for today's private service in Sydney, The Daily Telegraph reports. Singer Jessica Mauboy was expected to perform, while Sony chairman Denis Handlin confirmed that he would be delivering a eulogy.
Since Springbett passed away, there have been rumours that he had split from partner Louisa McCole and also lost his job at the record company, but Handlin has denied such reports.
"[Springbett] was never sacked," Handlin said yesterday. "I want to clarify rumours that he was not employed by Sony at the time of his death. He was."
McCole and Springbett's two young daughters are also expected to attend the service, as well as stars he mentored such as Natalie Bassingthwaighte, Amy Pearson, Cassie Davis, Stan Walker and Human Nature.
The coroner's report into Springbett's death will be finalised in approximately ten weeks, but police initially said that the incident was not suspicious.
