Jewel, Ty Murray welcome first child together

Jewel has given birth to her and husband Ty Murray's first child.

The 'Who Will Save Your Soul' singer welcomed newborn son Kase Townes on Monday in Texas, Jewel's spokesperson told People.

The baby boy weighs 7lbs 6oz.

Jewel beamed about Kase's arrival, saying: "Ty and I are so pleased to welcome our new baby boy into the world. We are overcome with happiness - it really is as great as everyone told us it would be - better even!"

The musician and her bull rider husband confirmed in January that they were expecting an addition to their family.

Jewel later commented that she was extremely grateful to bring new life into the world, explaining: "Pregnancy is a privilege, and I feel lucky that I get to do it."

Murray and Jewel married in 2008 after dating for close to a decade.

Jewel is currently a judge on the reality competition Platinum Hit, which airs Fridays at 8/7c on Bravo.

The Merry Goes 'Round, Jewel's LP of children's songs, is to be released later this year.
