Lawyers for JPMorgan Chase Bank initiated a formal bid to foreclose on the 'I Believe I Can Fly' singer's home last month, alleging that Kelly has not paid his mortgage since June 2010, according to Crain's Chicago Business.
Kelly was apparently issued a loan of $3.5m (£2.1m) for the home in 1999, but has yet to pay $2.9m still due to the bank. Unpaid interest on the loan continues to accrue at an additional $251 (£157) a day.
The musician's spokesman Allan Mayer chose not to comment on the foreclosure when reached by The AP, but did dismiss any suggestion that Kelly is facing financial problems.
Last month, Kelly was sued in LA County Superior Court by his former manager for failure to pay for services rendered.
He also recently released a remixed version of Britney Spears's 'Till The World Ends'.
