Jordan and Peter Andre are under special police protection after officers discovered a plot to kidnap one of their children.

Detectives apparently discovered that a gang planned to take one of the pair's children hostage and issue a ransom demand of £1 million.

A police source told the News of the World, "We uncovered the plot at an early stage and it appeared sophisticated. It was immediately taken very seriously and security was put in place around the family."

A spokesman for Scotland Yard confirmed, "The Metropolitan Police specialist kidnap unit are investigating intelligence about a threat to kidnap and extra security has been put in place to protect the family."
