The 67-year-old Australian radio personality, who underwent a liver transplant last week after his cancer returned, said that he is "feeling fine" after suffering a minor setback.
A spokesperson from Austin Hospital revealed yesterday that the star would have to undergo another medical procedure after doctors discovered a blockage in his bile duct.
They said: "Yesterday he was very close to going home. That was only pending blood tests and the blood tests came back yesterday indicating that bile is not draining from the liver, so they need to manage that. It's certainly not an emergency. It's a common issue to arise for liver transplant patients."
After the surgery, Hinch wrote to his fans on Twitter: "News from the West Wing. Derryn Hinch Unplugged. Surgery a success. Stent installed. Feeling fine. Thanks for the Tweets #live. (sic)"
After his transplant, Hinch went on air to tell his fans how "grateful" and "honoured" he felt that he had got a second chance at life.
