Muse's Matt Bellamy explains baby name Bingham Hawn

Matt Bellamy has explained the name of his newborn baby boy with Kate Hudson.

Hudson gave birth to their first child Bingham Hawn on Saturday in Los Angeles.

The Muse frontman has now revealed that the choice of name was down to family connections with both parents.

"For those wondering, Bingham is my mum's maiden name," he wrote on Twitter.

The middle name Hawn is in honour of Hudson's mother Goldie Hawn, while Bellamy added that Bing is also the name of Hawn's long-time husband Kurt Russell's father.

"Bing Russell was also Kurt's dad. Family connections all around."

Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn have been married for 28 years, with Hudson considering the Overboard actor her father. Her real father is musician Bill Hudson.

Bellamy and Hudson encouraged their friends and family to donate "celebration trees" instead of giving them baby gifts.
