The married comedian left his role as host of The One Show in November last year following revelations that he'd had internet sex sessions with fans.
Speaking of the scandal, he told The Sun: "If you can't laugh at yourself as a comic, you've no business being a comic. On 8 Out Of 10 Cats, I'd have given it out if that story came up.
"You can't have the success and the good side without the other side. If you get on stage and the people heckle you, you have to deal with it. I think if you hold your hands up and say, 'This happened, sorry, let's move on', then not many people can have a go at you really."
He then joked: "I couldn't afford a super-injunction, I spent it on a kitchen extension."
Manford hosts new ITV1 comedian competition Show Me The Funny, which starts on Monday at 9pm.
