Jennifer Lopez "fought" to save Marc Anthony marriage

Jennifer Lopez "fought" hard to save her marriage to Marc Anthony, an aide to the American Idol judge has claimed.

The couple announced their separation on Friday after seven years together, but her stylist Phillip Bloch has claimed that Lopez would not have made the decision lightly considering its potential effect on their twins Max and Emme.

"She fought to make it work for the sake of the children," he told The Mail On Sunday. "She desperately did not want a third divorce."

However, Bloch added that news of Lopez's divorce did not come as "a surprise", as the 'On The Floor' singer had long tired of Anthony's "controlling" behaviour.

"This is not a surprise. Marc is very controlling. In the beginning she liked that because he stood up to her, and in the early days he was very much in love with her and she was with him."

It was reported yesterday that Lopez "couldn't wait" to divorce Anthony.
