Teenage pop star Charlotte Church has apparently driven her car without L plates - before passing her driving test.

The singer was spotted driving her Mini in Cardiff, with the roof down and with rugby star boyfriend Gavin Henson as a passenger.

Her mother Maria defended the youngster, saying that the learner plates had flown off, adding: "They tried two or three times to stick them back on."

Charlotte plans to take her test next month.
