Nick Lachey: 'Island was perfect wedding venue'

Nick Lachey and Vanessa Minnillo have described Sir Richard Branson's private island in the British Virgin Islands as the "perfect place" for their recent wedding.

The pair exchanged vows on Friday during an intimate ceremony on Necker Island attended by only 35 of their closest family and friends.

Lachey has since told People that both he and Minnillo had long ago set their eye on using the location for their wedding as they both believed it to be "beautiful and romantic".

"We love to travel and we love Necker Island. We've vacationed there multiple times, and when we got engaged, we both immediately thought of the island as the perfect place to have our wedding," he explained.

Minnillo added: "We were on a boat, on vacation, passing the island and we both looked at each other and he said, 'Yes!' I was so glad he said what I was thinking. Nick saw it in my eyes."

The wedding will be televised in the TLC special Nick & Vanessa's Dream Wedding, which premieres July 30 from 9-11pm ET/PT.

Both Minnillo and Lachey have said that they plan to start a family right away after getting married and are looking forward to becoming parents.
