The former Olympic athlete denies dangerous driving in Chalfont St Peter, Buckinghamshire on May 8 last year. He is said to have crashed head on into a taxi with two newly-weds inside.
The jury was told that Christie stumbled out of his Audi A8, saying: "Oh my God, it's all my fault."
Christie was apparently driving towards Amersham when he found himself on the wrong side of the road, before hitting a silver Mercedes.
His Audi, with the personalised number plate '100 RUN', came to a stop in the middle of the carriageway, while the taxi went onto a grass verge.
The accident occurred at some time between 11.30pm and 11.40pm BST. The court hearing has been adjourned until tomorrow.
Linford Christie recently appeared in I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!, and was the sixth person evicted from the jungle.
