Brian May has blasted a Scottish golf club who have yet to ban a member who killed a fox on its course.

The Queen guitarist and keen wildlife conservationist was upset upon hearing about oil tycoon Donald Forbes clubbing a fox after it stole a biscuit from his golf cart at the Peterculter Golf Club.

Another golfer was then forced to humanely kill the fox after Forbes left the animal for dead, according to the Daily Record.

Forbes was fined $1,200 (£750) and suspended by the golf club, but was reinstated nine months later. Animal rights group Fox Watch have demanded that he be banned for life, and staged a protest at the club last weekend.

"This club have (sic) the opportunity to show their disapproval in an appropriate way - by banning this unsavoury character for life," May said of the protest. "But they seem to be unready. Shame on them."

Brian May joined the Foo Fighters' gig at the iTunes Festival with his Queen bandmate Roger Taylor last week.

Roger Taylor will re-release his anti-Rupert Murdoch song 'Dear Mr Murdoch' in protest of News International's phone hacking scandal.
