Robbie Williams has described crowd members at a Take That concert in the Netherlands as 'prettier and thinner' than UK fans.

The 37-year-old made the comment at the band's 'Progress' tour date in Amsterdam on Monday, joking that his "beautiful and sexy" supporters should take advantage of his wife Ayda Field's absence.

Williams is quoted by The Mirror as singing: "Amsterdam, how've you been? You are like the English but prettier and thin. So beautiful and sexy, want to hold you near. Come on, then, who wants me? My wife's not here."

Take That's Amsterdam concert was their first since a performance in Denmark was cancelled after Williams contracted food poisoning. The group had never before axed a show during their 20-year career.

Williams posted on his blog yesterday that he was "still in [his] sickbed", but his mood had been lifted by the Dutch crowd.

"You got me through a really really tough time," he wrote. "Eternal thank yous."

Take That yesterday denied reports that they had become "sick" of Williams's 'bad behaviour' on tour.
