Robbie Williams has voiced fears over his fitness levels, with the Soccer Aid match approaching.
The singer will captain the England side, made up of celebs and footballing legends, and has admitted he is not exactly a model of fitness: “The only thing I’m worried about is the fitness. That does scare me, as I do not want to embarrass myself. It’s a really big night – Boy’s Own stuff. A dream come true.”
His doubts over his own fitness level have not been helped by watching opposition captain Gordon Ramsay either. Talking to the Manchester Evening News, he said: “I watched the London Marathon on TV and the first person I saw was Gordon finishing. He was still jogging on the spot saying: ‘It was great this year. I think I could have done it a bit faster.’ I thought: ‘Oh my God!’ I’m just going to have to hit him.
“At the time I was still in bed at 4pm. I had an Easter egg in one hand, a Silk Cut in the other, a can of Coca Cola on the bedside and my ash tray full of cigs.”
