Linda Hamilton has offered to take Betty White's invitation to an upcoming Marine Corps ball

White was invited to the celebration via a YouTube video by Sergeant Ray Lewis, but work commitments meant she had to decline.

Hamilton has now posted her own YouTube video directed at Sgt. Lewis, suggesting that she would be a good replacement for the Hot In Cleveland actress.

"I don't know if you know who I am, but rumour has it that you like your actresses vintage so I thought I would take a shot and try to find you," she says.

Terminator actress Hamilton goes on to say that she has been "crying all not long" over White's inability to attend the ball, saying: "It was a terrible night thinking about you and this situation. Betty called and I talked to her for hours. I know she feels terrible."

Hamilton then tells Sgt. Lewis that she would be available to attend the ball with him if he is unable to find another date.

"I'm no Betty White," she says. "I'm only half as "mature" as she is, wink, wink, but I'm twice as funny so I think that works out. I don't want to get pitiful so I'm going to go now, but please take me to the ball."

White declined the invitation last week, saying that although she was "deeply flattered" to have been asked, she had already committed to filming an episode of Hot In Cleveland on the day of the ball.

Mila Kunis and Justin Timberlake have both accepted invitations to Marine Corp balls, depending on their schedules, while Miley Cyrus and Paul Walker have also been invited but have yet to respond.
