The 'Never Say Never' popstar has filmed a PSA for the Remember Alex Brown Foundation, a group founded in honour of a teenage girl who was killed in 2009 as a result of texting while driving.
Bieber asked fans who may be tempted to send text messages from behind the wheel to consider downloading PhoneGuard, an application that blocks texts from being received on smartphones when it detects a vehicle is in motion.
As an incentive for his fans to use Phoneguard, Bieber promised to give away an autographed tour jacket to one lucky admirer who registers for the service.
Bieber recently revealed that he will be taking a month away from show business in order to "grow up".
Bieber has also received an MTV Video Music Award nomination for his track 'U Smile' in the 'Best Male Video' category.
