The Celebrity Apprentice star had been autographing copies of her novel Satan's Sisters at an East Hampton, NY bookstore on Saturday when she was served by a processor representing her ex-husband Al Reynolds, Page Six reports.
Reynolds apparently claims that Jones broke the couple's vow not to make "disparaging remarks" about each other in the press by referring to their marriage as "kind of booty" during a March interview with Wendy Williams.
Investment banker Reynolds is said to be seeking $50,000 (£30,485) in damages.
Reps for Jones and Reynolds refused to comment on the matter.
Jones married Reynolds in 2004 at New York City's St Bartholomew's Church. They divorced four years later.
In March, it was reported that Jones's Celebrity Apprentice rival NeNe Leakes had been spending time with Reynolds.
