Nicky Hilton 'splits from long-time boyfriend David Katzenberg'

Nicky Hilton and long-time boyfriend David Katzenberg have reportedly split after dating for more than four years.

The couple reached a mutual decision to separate in order to spend more time focusing on their work, Page Six reports.

"They broke up quietly after four years together. The main reason was that they have been busy with their work schedules, and it has made it difficult to spend time together," a friend of the couple revealed.

"There is no scandal or any third person - they remain close friends, they have been friends since they were teenagers."

David, son of DreamWorks CEO Jeffrey Katzenberg, and Hilton have apparently been in regular contact since the break-up.

The pair were rumoured to be engaged in 2008, but Hilton denied that she and David had any plans to marry.

Prior to her relationship with David, Hilton married Wall Street businessman Todd Andrew Meister in 2004. Their union was annulled after just three months.
