Kasabian vocalist Tom Meighan has said how his "body went cold" when he heard of Amy Winehouse's death last weekend.

The 'Back To Black' singer was found dead at her Camden home last Saturday at the age of 27.

Fans later descended upon the residence to pay their respects to Winehouse, and Meighan himself arranged for a floral tribute to be laid down amongst their messages.

"I was really shocked," he told Music Week. "My body went cold. I am just so sorry. I had a tear, a little tear.

"I was in shock. I sent over some flowers today to her shrine from Kasabian - where all those people are putting all flowers - a big bunch of flowers from us. I think that's respectful. She was lovely, wasn't she?"

Meighan was then prompted to relive cherished memories of a "sing-song" with the late star before she hit the big time.

"Before Back To Black came out we had a sing-song around hers," he recalled. "It was great, lovely memories. I was singing one of my songs and then she just sang and I was like, 'Wow, what a lovely voice!' - just nice."

Meighan is the latest in a slew of celebrities to have paid tribute to Winehouse in the week since her death.

The 'Tears Dry On Their Own' singer has variously been described as "so special" by Lady GaGa and a "f**king genius" by old acquaintance Russell Brand.

She was laid to rest at a private funeral on Tuesday, which was attended by stars including her father Mitch, 'Valerie' collaborator Mark Ronson and friend Kelly Osbourne.
