'American Idol' Fantasia Barrino announces pregnancy

Fantasia Barrino has announced that she is pregnant with her second child.

The former American Idol winner confirmed that she is expecting a baby while attending a charity event in Jacksonville, FL over the weekend.

Barrino said: "For a while I walked around figuring out what will they say and what will they think about me. But now I tell you I don't live my life for folk. This child that I am carrying… God has given me this child. And I don't have to hide it from none of y'all."

The singer has not yet confirmed who the father of her second child is.

Barrino is already the mother to 9-year-old daughter Zion.

The musician made headlines last summer, when she was hospitalised for overdosing on a combination of aspirin and sleeping pills.

Barrino would later admit that she had intentionally attempted suicide because she was overwhelmed by her fast-paced lifestyle.
