The Top Gear presenter wrote in his Sunday Times column that he currently has no time for the operation needed to remove the growth.
BBC Radio 2 DJ Chris Evans also had a similar pre-cancerous growth removed last week. "Like Chris Evans, doctors recently found a tumour in my bowel which needs removing," Clarkson wrote.
"Unlike Chris Evans, I can't find a hole in my diary to have anything done about it."
Sources close to Clarkson said that the presenter is reportedly concerned about the growths, and that he is not simply making a joke.
"Jezza needs to get himself checked out. At this stage we believe and hope the tumour is benign," the source told the Daily Star. "It is not a subject Jeremy would mock, of course it isn't."
Jeremy Clarkson recently said that he would quit Top Gear if it moved its production to Manchester.
