The announcement was made by Donald Trump and Paula Shugart, the president of the Miss Universe Organisation.

Miss Mexico Jimena Navarrete was crowned Miss Universe 2010 at last year's ceremony in Las Vegas, scooping the title over 82 other contestants. She will return to this year's event to crown the 2011 winner.
Yendi Phillipps of Jamaica was named first runner-up last year and Miss Australia's Jesinta Campbell nabbed second runner-up.
