Alex Reid: 'I'm fighting for freedom and democracy'

Alex Reid has said that he is battling against homophobia and for freedom and democracy.

Katie Price's ex-husband makes his cage fighting return against Jason Barrett on August 6 at London's Troxy.

After Barrett repeatedly referred to him as Roxanne - his former cross-dressing alter ego - Reid responded on Twitter: "Hey homophobe, I can't wait as I'm fighting for anti prejudice defending freedom & r democracy that people have fought for years for us all to be free. They give there life & left their families/kids 4 r modern society 2 be 3. (sic)"

He continued: "Where is our freedom? We have it but we are taking it away from us? we refuse it by having this social gap betwin people that are different than us- Jason is calling me a 'gay freak' and is attacking me with those kind of staff, that does not bothers me as a person...

"People that have other religion than us-other faith, other sex, other sexual orientation...are not in our club? and many other people attack me from this corner...and makes me very angry on the way the society judge things forgetting the concept of fdm."

Reid added: "My days in the army are over, but I am still a soldier! And I will fight for freedom! I will fight for democracy! I will fight for the honour of our soldiers who are giving their lifes 4 freedom

"I will protect the name of freedom-and the honour of our soldiers! the honour of those that dyed on the battlefield! they are the heroes! I will protect their honour and the cause they have died for....FREEDOM!!!!"

In response, Barrett denied the accusations of homophobia and explained: "Lol the Roxanne stuff is all jokes, banter, its not a case of intolerance its fight talk.

"However I don't think calling me homophobic when I'm not is cool, its not a good look for mma (Mixed Martial Arts) either. Leave the politics to the politicians and the fighting to the fighters."
