Emergency services were called to the A605 at Haddon near Peterborough at 7.30pm tonight, after Atkinson's McLaren F1 car hit a tree and lamppost and caught fire.
The Blackadder star was then taken to Peterborough General Hospital, reportedly with a shoulder injury.
A spokeswoman for Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue said: "Crews brought the fire under control by 8.13pm. They made the vehicle safe and used one hose reel to put out the fire.
"There was one casualty but he was not trapped."
Atkinson had previously escaped a car accident with minor injuries in 1999, after colliding with the rear of a Rover Metro in his sports car, and also emerged unhurt after crashing into a dustcart in 2009.
The 56-year-old also recently clocked up the fastest time recorded around the circuit of Top Gear's 'Star In A Reasonably Priced Car' segment.
