Neil was charged with battery constituting domestic violence in March after getting into a physical altercation with his ex-girlfriend Alicia Jacobs at a Las Vegas comedy show.
Neil's trial was to begin on Monday, but his attorneys were granted an "emergency continuance" by Justice of the Peace Melissa Saragosa to delay the court proceedings until November 7, reports The Las Vegas Sun.
Defence lawyers for Neil did not specify the nature of the emergency.
Neil has pleaded not guilty to both battery and disorderly conduct charges.
The 'Wild Side' singer has been ordered to stay away from Jacobs for the duration of the trial.
Neil served jail time earlier this year following a drink driving conviction, but was released after serving ten days of a 15-day sentence.
