Rav Wilding has set up a Twitter account to help the authorities identify those involved in the ongoing London riots.

The Crimewatch presenter and ex-police officer launched @RiotCCTV this afternoon and told members of the public to send photographs of rioters to the feed to help his former colleagues.

Wilding said: "Rather than send your cctv stills to my personal site please send to @riotcctv that I've just set up, and will pass to police.

"Thanks for all your submissions to @RiotCCTV we need it to be in one place to view/ID them.... stay safe."

The Twitter feed describes itself as a "temp account set up to collate CCTV images of people suspected of involvement in the Widespread Public Disorder in August 2011, in order to help police".

Social media services including Twitter, Facebook and Blackberry Messenger have been accused of 'fuelling' the ongoing riots in London, which have since spread elsewhere in the UK.

However, social media accounts have also been set up to arrange the community-led clean up of affected areas, with many using the @riotcleanup and #riotcleanup hashtags.
