Kate Nash has accused rioters in the UK of having "no conscience".
The musician appeared on ITV1's Daybreak to talk about taking part in the cleanup operation in London yesterday. She described the atmosphere during the riots as "mayhem", and argued that authorities must evaluate what sparked the disorder.
Nash, who lives in Bethnal Green, said: "I want the rioting to blow over, but I don't think the issues [will].
"Clearly there is something really deep and - I hope it doesn't blow over in terms of what we should be doing to try and ensure that this never happens again... why these young people - not just young people, but why people are going out there and destroying their neighbourhoods and communities - and, like I said before, have no sympathy, have no conscience, or are happy to set fire to a shop that has people living in the flat above.
"You know, I hope that we don't ignore [this] - we need to address this."

Presenter Adrian Chiles also expressed his disgust that independent shop owners "trying to eke out a living" had been targeted in the riots, adding: "[I] is flipping tough enough at the moment."
Nash praised the attitude of people who turned out to clean up affected areas of London on Tuesday morning, adding: "I was worried it might be tense, but it was really calm, and everyone was just waiting around patiently.
"Hundreds of people waited for hours and there was no sense of tension."
